MaheshwaraVaibhava is the dance drama entitled with the praising of lord Shiva. Shiva has stood as a savior for several lives and even for the god and goddesses. Few instances which witness this are: when he consumed the kalakuta (poison) during samudramanthana, protected Markandeya (devotee of Shiva) from the clutches of death, personified as Yama, Gangavatarana- bringing Ganga to the earth and held her in between his jate in order to protect the land. Another instance shown in this act is Manmathadahana, whenManmatha (god of love) disturbed lord Shiva’s meditation by his arrow and Shiva with anger opened his third eye and burnt the god of love into ashes and yet blessed his as ‘Ananga’…
